This year's IPTW will be the 20th anniversary and we are excited for everyone join us to reflect on our first two decades and help us plan for the future! This year’s event will be held on the grounds of Clermont Farm, a 360-acre research and training site in history, historic preservation, and agriculture, owned by the Department of Historic Resources of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Demonstrations and events will be held in the main barn, tents located throughout the property, and the springhouse.  A pre-conference workshop is in the works, focusing on repair of the springhouse located on the farm.  On Saturday night the yearly dinner and auction will be held, to benefit the PTN Misia Leonard Scholarship Fund.

This year the IPTW will be held in conjunction with the National Barn Alliance, who are planning a barn tour on Friday, as well as a track of speakers and demonstrations focused on these historic buildings.

The Clermont Foundation funds and manages Clermont Farm, a 360-acre research and training site in history, historic preservation, and agriculture, owned by the Department of Historic Resources of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The farm and the foundation were a gift to the people of Virginia by Elizabeth Rust Williams in 2004.  As a study site, Clermont is open only by appointment to researchers, teachers and students. It is not open to the public except for specific scheduled events. Clermont has training relationships with universities in Virginia and Maryland, and a Community Agricultural Partnership with the Clarke County Public Schools and Farm Bureau.

We hope you can join us for the 20th anniversary of IPTW!

The International Preservation Trades Workshop (IPTW) is the only annual gathering of its kind in North America that brings together the foremost practitioners of the traditional trades in a single event, dedicated to sharing the skills and knowledge of all the trades employed in the conservation of the built environment. Since 1997, carpenters, masons, metal workers, painters, plasterers, timber framers, roofers and practitioners of other traditional trades from more than a dozen countries have come together to share their knowledge and demonstrate their skills. Every IPTW draws a diverse audience of tradespeople, architects, preservationists, students and home owners, and offers unique learning opportunities for people of all ages and skills levels.
