Submit a Session Proposal for the International Trades Education Symposium
Please use the form below to submit a session proposal for ITES 2008. The deadline for submissions of ITES session proposals is May 15, 2009. Proposals will be peer reviewed by the ITES organizing committee, and applicants will be notified of the status of their proposals by May 30, 2009. Presentations will be 45 minutes in length.

A formal publication of the proceedings will be produced. Presenters must submit their completed papers no later than July 15, 2009. Papers must follow the Preservation Education & Research journal manuscript submission guidelines.

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria: Relevance to the Symposium theme ”Finding Common Ground” - Trades education and conservation of the built environment in the 21st century.

Four major topic areas will be considered:-

1. Shifting Sands - Labor History of the Building Trades from primitive structures to the present. What we can learn from the history of the building trades and how we find its impact on culture today.

2. Solid Land - Remembering the reasons why the building trades matter.

3. A Place to Build - Defining the challenge of the 21st Century for trade based education and industry. Practical application to the development of standards and practices for teaching traditional trades methods and building preservation/conservation technology.

4. Building Foundations - Building a new culture for building craft education and industry. Defining pathways for trade education in the 21st century and the potential for development of skills exchange, partnership efforts and collaboration on community, regional, national and international levels.
