Mike is a third generation Masonry Restoration Craft Worker from Buffalo, New York and a twenty-six year member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers International Union. He currently serves as the International Masonry Institute National Safety and Restoration Training Coordinator. Mike holds a Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Health and Safety, he earned his Master of Arts Degree in Historic Preservation in 2011 from Goucher College and he received the Hiram McCullough Award for having the best thesis titled “Developing the Qualification Standard for the Preservation Craftworker”. 

Over the years, Mike has served as a guest presenter for the Eastern Michigan University HP Graduate Field School Program as well as the UPENN Historic Preservation Graduate Summer Praxis Program and he recently has completed a peer-review evaluation and has been designated as a Professional Associate from the American Institute of Conservation (AIC).

In addition, Mike currently holds the nationally recognized Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation and is an approved MSHA trainer, EM385-1-1 qualified trainer and is recognized as a "Master Safety Trainer" from the OSHA Training Institute (OTI)/CPWR Region III. He also currently serves on the ANSI/SIA A10.8, A10.26, A10.6, and the A10, A14 and A92 Main Safety Committees as well as serves as a board member for the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI).
