Bio
Bill served as a past PTN Board Member for six years, presented papers at the first four ITES events, along with presentations at IPTWs and in New Orleans post-Katrina events with PTN (Greater Little Zion Baptist Church restoration) and Historic Green "Spring Greening" events.
Awarded the 2020 Askins Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions To Preservation Trades by his peers.
"Preservation is about community working together to sustain pride of ownership and cultural heritage".
He’s been working with his hands in various trades since the early 1970's and has a deep-rooted craftsman's fascination with historic buildings, boats and structures of all sorts, and hand tools.
For over a quarter-century he’s taught hands-on carpentry and all the associated specialty courses of Historic Preservation at College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California where he developed and directed a nationally award-earning Historic Preservation and Restoration Technology certificate/degree program (HPRT) that was unique on the West Coast over 18 years.
Bill has shifted his energies into personal restoration projects, shop-work, gardening, music, and spending more home time with his wife and artist, Colleen (Hole Studios), all while maintaining a strong community presence in historic preservation.
“Thanks to PTN members for carrying the torch in all corners of the world.”
