James “Rusty” Brenner is an advocate for the preservation of historic cemeteries in Texas and its surrounding areas. His passion led him to found both the Texas Cemetery Restoration, LLC and Cemetery Preservation Supply, LLC. Their missions are simple: to exceptionally preserve historic gravestones and to provide quality preservation supplies and practices to the public. Techniques used to preserve these historical gravestones include hands-on preservation and cemetery mapping and databases generation with the use of Global Positioning Systems, Ground Penetrating Radar, Aerial drones, Laser scanning, and Geographic Information System  software to help cemeteries better catalog their historic artifacts.

Rusty is a dedicated craftsman and has used his skills to organize volunteers to clean 5,000 veteran headstones at Stones River National Cemetery in Tennessee. He has instructed several preservation workshops around the country, including teaching grads and undergrads in Hawaii. In addition to PTN, he is a member of many other preservation associations including Association for Preservation Technology (APT), American Institute for Conservation (AIC), and Association for Gravestone Studies (AGS).
