PTN is excited to partner with the National Barn Alliance to offer a unique tour in conjunction with IPTW 2016. The Barn Tour will showcase the preservation of some great historic farmsteads and barns in the Shenandoah Valley, presenting information on historic social, ethnic, and economic trends that shaped the area's agriculture architecture from the eighteenth century to present.

Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look at two National Trust for Historic Preservation-affiliated historic sites:

  • Belle Grove in Middletown, VA
  • Oatlands in Leesburg, VA

Participants will also gain exclusive access to several privately-owned Shenandoah Valley barns. Construction details of these barns illustrate historic masonry, timber-framing, and braced-framing traditions in the Shenandoah Valley, also known as the Great Valley and the "breadbasket of the Confederacy" during the Civil Wa

The tour starts at 8:30am on Friday, September 9th, and will wrap up around 4:00pm.

The tour includes a shuttle bus, informational booklet, and box lunch.

Tickets are $50 per non-member and $40 for NBA and PTN members

Space is limited. Reserve your place today!
